About Londonderry Church
Londonderry
Church is community of believers dedicated to the fundamental truths
of Scripture. Like many new churches, we began as a
neighborhood Bible study. After a lot of time and prayer the decision was made to
plant a church in this community that was both traditional in doctrine
and practice while at the
same time culturally relevant. We believe that this community
would be well served by a church that embraced historic Protestant
theology, expository preaching and Christ-centered worship. We
also felt that so many churches today have become impersonal in their
approach and we sought to establish a church that truly feels like a
second family. In
September 2008, we held out first public worship service, dedicating
ourselves to minister to this community and reaching the world with
the Gospel.
Londonderry Church is an independent, reformed and evangelical church.
We are independent in that we believe in the autonomy of the local
church. Our church is governed by a plurality of elders & deacons
elected by the congregation. We are members of
The Fellowship of Independent
Reformed Evangelicals, a unifying network for independent Reformed
(and Reforming) baptistic churches to experience mutual edification,
fellowship, cooperation and prayerful support in ministries and
missions.
We are Reformed in that we hold to the classic formulations of
Protestant theology that came out of the Reformation period. We
believe in the centrality of the local church in the Christian's life,
and that the policies, practices, and worship of the church should be
ordered by the Word of God. Rather than ignoring or rejecting the
great history of the Protestant faith, we embrace it.
We are Evangelical in that we believe the mission of the
church is to bring the gospel to every tongue, tribe and nation. We
believe that the mission field begins at our front door and strive to
be engaged in the culture without being absorbed by the culture. In
other words, we take the Great Commission seriously.
